What's certain is that the community will now lose a valuable resource for reviews and commentary on the hobby of photography. As significant as it may be in the photography community, it is but a small operation compared to the vast industrial might of Amazon. It's unclear how much of a difference DPReview will make to Amazon's bottom line. Sadly, it looks like the team from DPReview is part of these 9,000 layoffs. The "parent company" that owns DPReview is Amazon, which acquired them back in 2007 during the boom of digital photography.Īmazon is aggressively looking for ways to cut back on spending and most recently announced that it's cutting another 9,000 jobs on top of the 18,000 announced months ago. This difficult decision is part of the annual operating plan review that our parent company shared earlier this year.
